Job Description
Position Title: Senior Data Analyst

Reports to: Strategic Director/Program Manager - Data Strategy of Enterprise Architecture and Standards Division: IT
Department: Enterprise Architecture and Standards

Experienced with developing state of the art solutions, hands-on research, evaluation, and due diligence of technical solutions
Communicates clearly to all stakeholders, ranging from high-level business to detailed technical
Works with internal and external technology providers to ensure maximum leverage of their solutions
Researches new technologies while keeping up-to-date with technological developments in relevant areas
Principal Functions:
Profiles data from different sources and determines whether and how data can support business and data requirements of its intended use
Establish and support specific data sourcing requirements; knowledge of ETL process and tooling
Delivers standardized data element definitions and descriptions with a goal of enterprise MDM definition and data integration
Creates logical data models
Maintains enterprise data model based on individual subject area models
Participates with metadata administrator to track and record business definitions of data
Knowledge of modeling conventions for both data (data models) and process (data flow diagrams and process models)
Focus on leveraging Enterprise Information Management, conducting peer review & governance sessions for quality assurance, initiates remediation activity to correct and improve data quality issues
Proficient with mater data management using existing skills, tools, data quality disciplines and technologies to assert and maintain control over master data
Detailed knowledge of Master Data Management; data models and metadata
Reduce multiple data sources to authoritative, accurate and reliable system of record across the enterprise
Participates in data strategy which transforms data assets into enterprise data warehouse, enabling the business and analytics resources to turn data into information intelligence
Subject matter and technical expert for MDM data schema
Participates in development and maintenance of data architecture policy and principles
Technical understanding of MDM domain model, data standards, and data dictionary
Collaborates with data management team, enterprise architects, software architects, DBAs, IT support, and development teams to:

develop data architecture strategy
describe data requirements and scope
develop MDM design and modeling strategy
develop data warehouse and business intelligence strategies
create and sustain data quality initiatives


Contributes to enterprise data governance activities as needed; including policies and procedures
Participates as required in meetings with internal and external customers in order to understand their requirements and the implications for the data architecture, while also being able to succinctly explain data issues in business terms
Participates in putting architectural blueprint and guidelines into practice
Develops plans to migrate from the current data architecture to next generation data quality/MDM platform
Engages in design reviews as needed for architectural alignment

Required Skills and Experience:
Development Technologies: Model driven design, using E/R modeling tools like ERwin or E/R Studio; familiarity with best practices for data modeling
Database Systems: Oracle, DB2, MS SQL server
Database Technology: thorough understanding of relational data modeling for OLTP, OLAP
Database Performance: thorough understanding of transaction volume, scalability, response time
Data Management: Master data management, data cleansing, data replication, archive and restore,
Formal Languages: SQL, PL/SQL, Java
Operating Systems: AIX, Unix, Windows XP, Linux
Application Development: Design and development of distributed, enterprise wide applications
Time Management: Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously, ability to set priorities and focus
Communication: fluent in English, spoken and written; clear communicator at various levels of abstraction Education: MS CS or equivalent
Experience: 7 plus years of data management experience within large organizations and proven ability to lead an enterprise-wide
Leadership: Proven ability to drive data management solutions in a lead role for large, highly visible MDM / data analytics / data management programs
Travel: Willing to travel 5% of the time
Desired Skills and Experience:
Data Quality: profiling, cleansing, matching, de-duplication, enrichment
Data Warehousing: multi-dimensional databases, ETL, and business intelligence solutions
Domain experience: healthcare
Large scale computing: thousands of concurrent users, more than 100k transactions per day, data volumes in the terabytes
Integration of 3rd party data models into enterprise Data Management models and architecture
BS Degree /6 years experience
