Job Description
The MS SQL Server Applications Specialist will serve as a key member of the Information Analytics team. The candidate will have the experience and knowledge to become the subject matter and technical expert for the SQL Server environment. The candidate will have two primary focus areas. First, this person will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting new applications for the SQL Server environment. Second, the candidate will be responsible for SQL Server maintenance and troubleshooting, which includes services, message queues, parsers and databases.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, and support SQL Server applications (including data views and reports) aligned with enterprise MDM definition and data integration
Understand and incorporate data warehouse and other disparate data sources for SQL Server applications
Utilize business intelligence sourcing strategies for SQL Server applications.
Work with integration analysts and application consultants as needed to identify data flow dependencies and performance tuning to factor into data loads; assist with capacity management
Assist in setup and administration of SQL Reporting Services and creation of SQL reports
Monitor data integrity within the SQL Server Applications environment; contribute to enterprise data governance activities as needed including policies and procedures
Participate in and contribute to the implementation of best industry practices for SQL Server application management
Work with IT and end users to resolve issues
Promote systems from development to test to production environments
Required Skills/Experience
Masters Degree in Computer Science or an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
3 to 5 years of professional work experience using Microsoft SQL Server.
SQL Programming skills should include writing SQL Queries, statements and stored procedures
Basic understanding of ETL processes.
Understands the principles of Master Data Management; skills, tools, data quality disciplines and technologies to assert and maintain control over master data
Ability to leverage in-depth business knowledge to translate complex business analysis and reporting requirements into technology solutions
Practical skills in supporting large scale environments processing millions of records per day in a high-availability environment
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills including mentoring of project team members
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
Must be able to work under minimal supervision with a high degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity

Desired Skills/Experience
Experience in healthcare payment processing or claims management and adjudication
PL/SQL, Java languages
Experience with ETL processes and tools, including DataStage (UNIX & zOS)
Scripting experience with C# or VB a plus
Masters Degree in Computer Science or an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
